INDIGENOUS LAND
We acknowledge that The West Side Show Room, located at 1414 North Main Street in Rockford, Illinois, is situated on the ancestral and traditional lands of the indigenous people of this area.
The land upon which we gather is the historical territory of several tribes, including the Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk, formerly Winnebago), Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo), Bodéwadmik (Potawatomi), Odawa, and Ojibwe (Three Fires), Asâkîwaki (Sauk) and Fox, Kiash Matchitiwuk (Menominee), Meshkwahkîha (Meskwaki), Myaamiaki (Miami), Peoria, and Očeti Šakówiŋ (Sioux).
As we continue to learn and grow, we acknowledge our responsibility to build a more equitable and inclusive community that honors, respects, and tells the truth about the history and cultures of Indigenous peoples. We recognize the ongoing consequences of colonialism and commit ourselves to making continuous efforts towards understanding and acknowledging our collective history.
