While the The Plague fills medieval Europe with fear, Father Flote leads a traveling band of comics who offer redemption through laughter.

Using Monty Python-style humor, Red Noses follows this troupe of God’s Zanies as they seek laughter and love during the darkest of times.

First presented in London in 1985 during the height of the AIDS epidemic, Red Noses spoke to the hopes and fears brought on by this global crisis.

Today, as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, Red Noses takes on new relevance. We see ourselves reflected in this group of comically flawed, but endearingly human survivors who are inspired to seek a higher purpose.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Peter Barnes

Peter Barnes was an Olivier Award-winning playwright and screenwriter.

Barnes achieved critical acclaim and box-office success with his baroque comedy, The Ruling Class, in 1968. He later adapted his play into a 1972 film which garnered Peter O’Toole an Oscar nomination before becoming a cult classic.

Known best as a playwright of dark historical comedies, Barnes wrote widely for films, radio, and television – his screenplay for Elizabeth von Arnim’s Enchanted April earning him a nomination for the best adapted screenplay Oscar in 1992.

The West Side Show Room believes everyone should have access to high quality contemporary theater and performing arts, so on select Fridays we open our doors to share our work with the people of our community— free of charge.

Free Friday tickets become available at 8am on the Wednesday before the show. Limit 2 per order.

Even though tickets are free, that doesn’t mean the shows are free for us to produce.
