PETER AND THE STARCATCHER

NOV 26 - Dec 19, 2021

A Play By Rick Elice
BASED ON THE NOVEL By Dave Barry & Ridley Pearson
MUSIC & LYRICS By Wayne Barker

Directed by Mike Werckle

This holiday season the WSSR presents a hilarious Peter Pan adventure for the whole family!

Based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Peter And The Starcatcher is an imaginative retelling of the origins of Peter Pan as he escapes his orphanage, battles pirates, discovers Neverland— and learns how to fly!

Featuring 11 actors portraying more than 100 unforgettable characters, Peter And The Starcatcher uses live music, ingenious stagecraft, and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life.

In our first play for families, the WSSR brings this show to life in our signature style with crazy characters, laugh-out-loud physical comedy, immersive environmental design, and wigs— lots and lots of wigs! Peter And The Starcatcher will satisfy longtime fans of the WSSR as well as new friends.

We’re back in the WSSR!

“Employing a combination of story-theater techniques and English-musical-hall parody, the show imagines the origins of the boy who refused to grow up, his legion of loyal orphans, and the pompous pirate Captain Hook.”
— David Sheward, Backstage

Kevin Poole
Smee

First observed in 1846, the planet Neptune, a giant ball of various gases that orbits the sun, is so far incapable of sustaining human life. Or at least it was. Had Nepatune been in observation a mere six and a half minutes prior, a very concerned German astronomer would have noticed a human-sized object being launched out of Neptune’s atmosphere and heading straight towards Earth. On the 11th of June 1996, this human-sized object landed in a small town in Northern Illinois where it preceded to take the identity of the first child it met, sending that same child back into space. Oblivious to the fate of the child, who now having grown up runs a successful accounting firm near Alpha Centauri, the former human-sized object spends most of its time involved in community theatre.
