Rockford New Play Festival 2014

Aug 14, 2014

FESTIVAL DIRECTOR Nathan Alan Davis
READING DIRECTED BY Mike Werckle

The Rockford Area Arts Council and The West Side Show Room collaborated on the first-ever Rockford New Play Festival. Originally conceived as an extension of the Arts Council's Arts Place summer apprenticeship program for teens, the festival quickly expanded to include playwrights from around the world. Over 150 plays were submitted. Six were chosen and presented in a staged reading to a capacity crowd at the Mendelssohn Club in Rockford, Illinois.

The theme of the festival was "Beginnings."
